lowspeedchase
1. Letting Tangiers sit in the phunnel on my porch for an hour before I smoke it makes it 10x better.2. Natural coals destroy QLs3. People are afraid to put milk in the base4. Heat management is important5. Any quality shisha will give up her clouds with the right heat6. FamiliarJoe
1. If you get the chance to smoke with Mushrat, Sonthert, or Hookah John in person your a very privileged individual.2. If you get OG Tangiers smoking right it is a good sign you are on your way to being a hookah guru.3. Coco's rock, not so much for Tangiers.4. QL's should only be used if it's a last resort.5. There are a lot of good Tobacco's, even if the majority only favors one. You personally need to try them all to make your own opinion.

Philmatic
This is my first post on HF, I've been a long time lurker but decided on finally joining the forum! The most uprising thing I learned on this forum is how many people use QuickLites. Now, I fancy myself somewhat of a hookah guru, but even when I first started smoking 8 years ago, I would have never thought to place anything but a natural coal near my tobacco. It just doesn't sit right with me. I originally started out with the Nour round "finger coals" and then moved to various natural bulk coals, then Romman Lemon Wood coals, then I've finally settled on Excotica's. I also learned how much people hate on Romman Tobacco and Exotica's: Romman changed their Peach formula a year ago hasn't been the same since, but at the time they were the best tasting, thickest smoke, and most reliable buzz inducing brand of tobacco. Not to mention they weren't overly wet and I didn't have to process them in any way before smoking. Exotica's are excellent, which the recent introductions of Coconora's I'd say we have a good choice of coals, but I still smoke Exotica's because I can get them extremely cheap by the box. I know there have been some issues with the guy who runs the US distribution of Exotica's but still, they are good quality coal. Finally, what's up with people preferring Mya's? Aren't they those cheaply made chinese hookahs? I had one and it broke about 2 weeks after purchasing it when I tried to clean it. The stem snapped right off. Ever since then I haven't smoked a single non Egyptian hookah.
Matt-641
1. There is actually quite a bit that goes into a good session. (If you figure out a method that works for you and master it, it's pretty easy though)2. Only use QL if you're out of naturals or your camping and don't have an electric stove.3. Smaller holes in the foil are better than larger holes.4. DO NOT run water through a regular hose.5. If you want a quality hookah, buy a Mya, KM or MZ.6. Size doesn't really matter (i.e. QT and Bambino).7. Everything has to be air tight for the best smoke.8. Even some of the cheaper brands of shisha can smoke really well, although others are pretty much crap.9. Phunnel bowls rock!I've learned a little bit while being on here Edited June 24, 2009 by Matt-

They are mass produced but all the MYA's I/friends have owned have all been air tight and smoke GREAT!They just aren't as elegant or authentic as a KM or MZ. I actually tested the bowl and hose on the MYA then took it and moved it to the KM. Guess what, HUUUUUUGE taste difference, and airflow too. KM rocks earth. Screw you all MYA lovers .
